Vision
District 40 will have a rich growth of new clubs that thrive as active and vital Toastmasters clubs, offering all members the full Toastmasters opportunity and experience. Established clubs will all be at charter strength and will achieve goals in membership, leadership, and education.
Values
Every member will have the opportunity to grow in communication and leadership skills. Since skills are developed through practice, each member will have the opportunity to be involved in the work of the district. Every member will be valued as a part of the District 40 team.
Committees will reach out to experienced toastmasters to draw on their skills and experience. In addition, other members at all leadership levels will be offered the opportunity to be a part of the team.
Committees
The Club Extension Committee will be responsible for developing new clubs. There will be a representative from each division. The committee will form and train Sample Teams which will work together to plan quality sample meetings to hold at prospective clubs. Team members will succinctly explain the role and demonstrate it.
The Club Rescue Committee will be responsible for bringing all clubs to charter strength and for helping all clubs to become Distinguished. There will be a representative from each division. The committee will form and train Rescue Teams which will present a “rescue” program to existing clubs that are failing or that are at risk for not becoming Distinguished. Rescue Teams are not meant to replace the Club Coach, if one is assigned, but will work with the Coach to help the club.
The Club Coach Committee will be responsible for working with clubs that have 12 or fewer members to help them become Distinguished. There will be a Coach Coordinator in each division. Coach Coordinators will work vigorously to identify coaches for each club that is eligible, submit their names for assignment, provide training in solid Toastmasters best practices, encourage coaches to attend club meetings often, and support the coaches whenever needed.

What to Do with a Lead
1. Contact LGM Eileen James: 937-652-3049 or havetimemusttravel@yahoo.com
2. Use the New Club Packet you were given at training to give information to the lead. The packet includes instructions, forms, and pamphlets. Information is also available on the TI website.
3. You will be involved to the extent you wish. If you have never been involved in starting a new club, you will be given a partner who knows the process.
4. Sponsors will be appointed to help the new club get started. You may be a sponsor.
5. A Sample Team will be assigned to present a sample meeting.
6. There is specific paperwork that must be completed, a fee for filing an “Intent to Charter” and other requirements that must be met.
7. A DTM will be assigned to make sure the paperwork is complete before it is filed with TI. (The DTM may be one of the sponsors.)
8. Once the club is chartered, mentors will be appointed to work closely with the club for the first 6 months.
Promotional Reporting
All clubs across District 40 are encouraged to share the good news in print and on the D40 website. There will be 2 contests for written news about your club, your area, your division, or District 40.
One contest will be for articles submitted to the Success Times, reporting member or club achievements and special events. All articles will be considered for the greatly coveted “Highly Recommended” awards. Authors will receive a certificate announcing their award. All winners will be considered for the District 40 “News Writer of the Year” award to be presented at the Spring 2012 District Conference.
The other contest will be for articles published in your local newspaper. A copy of the paper in which your article appears must be given to the LGM to be considered for the “Market Writer of the Year” award. A selections committee will determine guidelines for judging, review the articles, and select the winners. Contact Eileen James if you want to serve on this committee. havetimemusttravel@yahoo.com or call her at 937-652-3049

Poster Contest
All clubs across District 40 are encouraged to create a poster of some sort that can be used to promote their club within the district and beyond. Care should be taken to design work that is visually pleasing and that follows Toastmasters International guidelines. Clubs are encouraged to use these posters in the community and to bring them to district events. Posters will be displayed at the Spring 2012 District Conference and will compete for awards. (Details of this promotion will be provided after the re-branding guidelines are announced in August.)

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Very informative and inspirational website
Thanks Eileen… I’ll be able to pull up this website when I discuss the Marketing Plan!
The Central Ohio Advanced Club (COAT) fully supports the concept of an advanced club
in each division! Our Advanced clubs are under utilized and (wait for it) badly marketed.
As I recall we have only 5 advanced clubs in the District with a total of only 59 or so
members.
When you consider the experience levels and caliber or the Toastmasters in each advanced
club, they should be a major resource for clubs and area, division and the district. Here is an
excerpt from the Memphis Advanced Club msg to COAT –
“We not only have 10 of 10, but have over 40 educational awards. Right now, we are ranked
as the highest achieving club in the world.”
Hummm, if we had one advanced Memphis type club in each division that would mean ………
District 40 with all the other district initiatives could be the top district in the World.
Go, Eileen!
