Make Your Dreams Take Flight

Attend the District 40 Fall 2011 Conference

What was your goal when you first joined Toastmasters? Maybe you wanted to improve your career, to be more credible at business meetings, or to express your confidence at work. Perhaps your goals were more personal. Perhaps you wanted to find your voice, to be more confident, and to have fun. Many Toastmasters find that as their skills grow, so does their influence. They learn to inform others, to inspire and motivate, and to make a difference in the world. Toastmasters provides opportunities to take action, to expand your comfort zone, and to find support and inspiration in others. The Fall 2011 District 40 Conference is an excellent opportunity for growth and inspiration.

Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests

The Humorous Speech Contest features speeches that are 5 to 7 minutes in length and must be substantially original.  Any quoted material must be identified during the presentation. The speech must be thematic in nature (opening, body, and close) and not be an act or monologue.  It should be “clean” humor; avoid objectionable language, anecdotes, and material.  Vocal variety, gestures, and speech content all play a part in a successful humorous speech.

The Table Topics Speech Contest features speeches that are 1 to 2 minute in length.  Table Topics is about developing your ability to organize your thoughts quickly and respond to an impromptu question.

The run-up to the District 40 contests are the Club Contests, Area Contests, and the Division Contests.  Visit the District 40 Events page often to keep on top of Area and Division contest information.
