Profile of Karen Isaacs

Karen Isaacs is the 2011-12 loop division governor

My name is Karen Isaacs (ACB, ALB) and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio where I was born and raised. I am currently a Senior Paralegal at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Company. I am a proud mother of two children ages 18 and 16. I am an active member of the Anthem Express Toastmasters Club in Mason, Ohio. In my leisure time I enjoy spending time with my family, volunteering, seeing movies, reading books, listening to music, traveling and riding rollercoasters.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, PA) and a Certificate of Paralegal Studies from College of Mount St. Joseph College (Cincinnati, Ohio). I consider myself a life learner as I continue to take classes to challenge myself.

I joined Toastmasters in 2004 like many others to help improve my communication skills. Not only has Toastmasters helped me improve my communications skills; it has given me copious opportunities to utilize and improve my leadership skills. During the six years that I have been a member of Toastmasters, I have held a number of leadership roles. This past year, I served as the Area 56 Governor. I have previously served as Area 55 Governor. In my home club, I have served as President twice. It was during my two terms as President, our club was “Distinguished” and “Select Distinguished” for the first time. I have also served as Vice-President of Membership twice and Vice-President of Public Relations.

My personals goals are to continue to improve my speaking techniques, as well as coach and mentor others. I plan to obtain my DTM award by the end of the 2011-2012 Toastmaster year. My goal for the Loop Division is to lead the division to another successful year. I plan to meet this goal by supporting District 40 leadership in getting back to Toastmaster basics. I will also provide leadership to the Loop Division and support the Area Governors, clubs and members in accomplishing their goals.
